How we work
We work to ensure that the voices of children and young people, whānau, hapū and iwi, caregivers, Māori organisations and NGO partners are heard as we co-design a new way of doing things.
-
Oranga Tamariki Action Plan
Six agencies working together to improve the lives of children, young people and families with the greatest needs.
-
New ways of working
Since inception in 2017, Oranga Tamariki has been working to transform the care and protection system and improve outcomes for tamariki Māori and their whānau. Change is happening but there is still a lot to do. Read about our progress.
-
Strategic partnerships with Māori
Our strategic partnerships are helping tamariki and rangatahi Māori to thrive in the care and protection of their whānau, hapū and iwi.
-
How we keep children safe
When a report of concern is made for a child, we follow steps to assess the family and home situation and the safety of the child, before acting.
-
Outcomes Framework
The Oranga Tamariki Outcomes Framework sets out the main services we provide, how we intend to provide them differently from the past, and how we will know we're making a difference for tamariki or children and whānau or families.
-
Working with others
To keep tamariki thriving we need a partnered approach. That's why we've partnered with iwi and Māori organisations, community groups and NGOs to work together towards improving the wellbeing of tamariki Māori.
