Oranga Tamariki works with around 60 care partners that provide safe homes and places to live for tamariki in care. Together we designed changes for Partnered Care that focus on experiences and outcomes and meet the National Care Standards.

Partnered Care describes a provider who is approved by Oranga Tamariki to deliver care services for tamariki and rangatahi in the care of Oranga Tamariki under section 396 of the Oranga Tamariki Act (1989).

Our ways of working together with care partners focus on improved practice, partnerships, and outcomes. The service specifications and Care Model Summary documents are child-centric and aligned to this vision.

There are 3 funding models for partnered care: dynamic, fixed and individualised. All models provide 'all-in' funding to enable partners the flexibility to respond to the individual needs of the tamariki in their care.

The Quality Assurance function within Māori, Partnership and Communities supports quality practice and learning across Partnered Care. It also plays a part in confirming new care partners.
